An Allied Health certificate program for those interested in becoming a telemetry/EKG technician will be offered this summer at the West Essex campus of Essex County College in West Caldwell. Call (973) 877-1920 for registration information.

The class will run Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6 to 9 p.m., for 20 sessions starting June 5. There will be no classes held June 26-July 5.

Telemetry/EKG Technician certificate program is a great opportunity for one to train for entry level positions during the summer. These technicians provide physicians and registered nurses with information needed to evaluate and treat heart ailments of patients in both hospital and other health care facilities. The curriculum covers basic cardiovascular anatomy and physiology, basic cardiovascular electrophysiology, and the types and effects of cardiac medicine on the heart. Participants who successfully complete the program will be eligible to take the Certified Cardiographic Technician exam. The total cost of the program is $775.

Prospective students must have a high school diploma or equivalent, and have a criminal background check.
