Authorities are investigating the death of an unidentified black female found in Newark early Saturday morning.
Newark police dispatched to the 500 block of S. 11th Street at approximately 5 a.m. discovered an responsive woman lying in the bushes, according to Thomas Fennelly, chief assistant prosecutor of the Essex County Prosecutor's Office's Homicide Unit. The woman was pronounced dead a short time later and the cause of death is pending an autopsy.
The incident is being investigated by the ECPO Major Crimes Task Force Unit. Anyone with information is asked to call detectives at 877-847-7432 or 973-621-4586.
