High School Fair is Saturday

Families of incoming students invited to review offerings

Newark Public Schools recently introduced a new, citywide high school admissions process for the 2013‐2014 school year. The revamped application process provides all Newark 8th graders and their families the opportunities to express high school preferences and ultimately enroll at those schools.

In addition to unveiling a centralized application and offering school choice, NPS is heavily focused on improving the quality of high school options for the 2013‐2014 school year. Across the district, several comprehensive high schools will be transformed into more personalized, intimate learning communities with compelling themes and individual pathways.

On Saturday April 6,  the district will be hosting a second high school fair at Louise A. Spencer School, 66 Muhammad Ali Ave. from 9:15 a.m. to 12 p.m.

The fair will feature information on the small schools at the Barringer Campus, West Side Renew High School and Newark Early College. Students and families are encouraged to attend the fair to learn about the following new offerings:

The plan for two schools at the Barringer Campus,  the components of a Renew School programming and extracurricular activities.
