Police are looking for suspects in the fatal shooting of a 26-year-old city man early Tuesday evening.
Marquise Franklin was shot around 5:44 pm near 62 Hawkins St. in the Ironbound. He was pronounced dead at University Hospital less than an hour later.
No arrests have been made. The investigation is active an ongoing. Anyone with information is urged to contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-847-7432.

We wonder when Mayor Cory Booker will take an active effort in fighting crime in our city. That's what he said he'll do in 2006 and 2010 when he ran for mayor but as soon as he won reelection in May 2010 he started laying off cops and not replacing cops who retire or leave for other reasons. The force is down about 330 cops and is growing in the wrong direction.
