Newark Kids Among Winners in County Poster Contest

Fourth-graders' art to appear in county calendar.

Essex County Clerk Christopher J. Durkin recently hosted a ceremony at the Hall of Records in Newark to celebrate the winners of the "My Essex County" 4th Grade Poster Contest. There were 668 fourth-grade students from 42 grade schools throughout Essex County who entered posters.

Students were asked to express their appreciation for the history, beauty and people of Essex County through art. The students pictured here, all from Newark, finished in the top 15 and their posters will appear in the county’s 15-month calender. The winners also received a framed certificate and a medal engraved with their names.
