Newark Liberty Gets $6 Million

Funds to be used for runway repair

Newark Liberty International Airport will get $6 million in repairs paid with federal funds, US senators Frank Lautenberg and Robert Menendez announced Thursday.

The US Department of Transportation will provide the money to the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which operates the airport. The money will be used for runway repairs.

“This funding will help ensure Newark International has the resources it needs to run efficiently and provide travelers with the quality service they deserve,” said Menendez.“Our airports are important drivers of our local economy and with this investment we are helping ensure New Jersey remains competitive.”

Another New Jersey airport, in Lincoln Park, received $114,000 for runway repairs.
