 s celebrating Healthy Kids Day&reg\; with a free community event for kid
 s and families in Newark\, NJ.\nHealthy Kids Day\, a national initiative
  of the Y to improve the health and well-being of kids\, is filled with 
 fun\, active play and educational activities that will help parents impr
 ove their kids&rsquo\; lifestyles for the long term. Research shows that
  without access to activities that stimulate the mind and body\, kids ar
 e more prone to gain weight and fall behind academically over the summer
  months.\nFeatured activities include family swim and swim testing\, dan
 ce\, sports\, fitness assessments\, conducting health screenings\, hosti
 ng interactive activities\, basketball skills and drills clinics and fit
 ness games\, and more interactive fun. In addition\, the Newark YMCA is 
 proud to host representatives from Let&rsquo\;s Move! Newark\, 4-H\, PCC
 I\, University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey\, Nike Factory St
 ore\, Essex County College\, Northern New Jersey Chapter of Delta Sigma 
 Theta Sorority\, Inc.\nA leading nonprofit committed to strengthening co
 mmunity through youth development\, healthy living and social responsibi
 lity\, the Y holds Healthy Kids Day to teach healthy habits and inspire 
 a lifetime love of physical activity through active play. As part of thi
 s initiative\, the Y &ndash\; along with hundreds of thousands of parent
 s and kids nationwide &ndash\; is taking on summer by addressing critica
 l gaps in health and education that cause kids to be at risk for childho
