Are you struggling to find an appropriate religious school program for your child with special needs?  Are you hoping that your child with special needs will be able to have a Bar/Bat Mitzvah, but are not sure where to turn?  If so, please join us for an Open House of Ma’ayan, Temple Emanu-El of Westfield’s education program for children with special needs.  This event will take place on Sunday, April 29, 2012 at Temple Emanu-El and will run for approximately one hour.  Please arrive promptly at 9:45am.  We will meet outside the Temple’s wooden doors, located at 756 East Broad Street in Westfield.

Parents and children will participate in a typical Sunday Ma’ayan class.  Participants will meet the Ma’ayan Education Director, the Ma’ayan Program Director, as well as the student aides.  We will engage in activities such as: Reciting the blessings and eating challah for snack, learning Hebrew, and making an arts and crafts project.

To register, please download a copy of the program flyer, which is located on our website: www.tewnj.org.  Once on the website, click on the link to the calendar and then click on the date April 29th and there will be a link to the flyer.  You may also RSVP by emailing the Program Director, Amy Ash, at aash@tewnj.org.

Ma’ayan, Temple Emanu-El’s Religious School program for children with special needs, ensures that a Jewish education is accessible to every child.  Ma’ayan is open to all members of the Jewish community, regardless of synagogue affiliation or denomination.  Our goal is to provide all children the opportunity to be called to the Torah as a Bar/Bat Mitzvah.  Ma’ayan offers a variety of family education programs for children with special needs. These events are run in conjunction with the JCC of Central NJ and are held six times per year.

This program is made possible in part by a grant from the Jewish Federation of Central New Jersey and by the Holly E. Wetscher Ma’ayan Education Fund.  To learn more about this event and the Ma’ayan program, contact Program Director Amy Ash at (908) 232-6770, ext. 137, or email aash@tewnj.org.  For more information about Temple Emanu-El, contact Carolyn Shane, Executive Director, at (908) 232-6770, ext. 114, or email cshane@tewnj.org.  All are welcome.
