More About Rutgers The State University of New Jersey
Rutgers - Newark was founded in 1946, but as an institution of learning it dates back to 1908, when the New Jersey Law School opened its doors. The 38-acre campus, located in University Heights, consists of seven colleges: Newark College of Arts and Sciences/University College - Newark; School of Public Affairs and Administration; College of Nursing; School of Criminal Justice; Graduate School - Newark; Rutgers School of Law - Newark; and Rutgers Business School - Newark and New Brunswick. More than 40 undergraduate majors and more than 20 graduate programs are available here, plus 14 NCAA Division III women's and men's athletic teams.
The school offers a wealth of resources for students, including four libraries. Dana Library is the site of many public concerts, and also houses the Institute of Jazz Studies, which is the largest and most comprehensive library and archive of jazz and jazz-related materials in the world. The main administrative building is Conklin Hall.
