Free Bike-Helmet Safety Demonstration Offered
What's going on in Newark today, Oct. 15
Rutgers School of Nursing, Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, University Hospital EMS and the AAA New Jersey Automobile Club are sponsoring a bike-safety demonstration at the Hyatt Court Recreation Room, 9 Hawkins St., from noon to 2 pm. Residents of the Hyatt Court, Pennington Court and Terrell Homes public housing complexes will also receive free bike helmets.
Together with their parents, the children, ages 2-17, will learn the importance of wearing a helmet and how to do so correctly; the consequences of not wearing a helmet; how to recognize symptoms of a concussion; bicycle maintenance tips; and traffic safety rules for riders.
