The selection of Dr. Prakash was made during March of 2013, which was designated as National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month by President Clinton in 2000 and advocated for by the Colon Cancer Alliance.

Dr. Prakash has practiced in the North Jersey community for more than 25 years and is an active advocate for physician education and pubic outreach to create increased awareness for gastrointestinal disorders and the need for colorectal screening to enhance patient survival.  “Dr. Prakash is the area’s leading advocate for generating public awareness for both prevention and treatment of colorectal cancer,” commented Madeline Fiadini LoRe, founder of the MFL Foundation. “His efforts have saved numerous lives, and together with the MFL Foundation, we will save scores more.”

The MFL Foundation is focused on increasing awareness and funding cancer screenings to the area’s underserved community who may otherwise be denied treatment. The mission is to make cancer prevention programs available to the community by granting access to test and/or screenings necessary for the prevention and early detection of various forms of cancer in men and women.

“The Gala is the single-most important event on the MFL Foundation calendar,” commented Ms. LoRe. “This one event provides a significant portion of our funding for tests and screenings while providing a wonderful evening of entertainment with the added satisfaction of supporting a very valid need in our community.”

Dinner and dancing will be the order of the day, with a live orchestra, a live auction led by a professional auctioneer, an elaborate cocktail hour, and a superb meal.

Tickets to the black tie optional event are $170 per person and may be obtained by contacting the MFL Foundation office at 605 Broadway, Bayonne, NJ, by calling 201-437-9100, or by email at Carol@mflfoundation.com.

Madeline Fiadini LoRe, founder of the Foundation, was first diagnosed with ovarian cancer at age 32. Ten years ago she learned she had breast cancer. The fight to beat that diagnosis only strengthened her resolve to bring the best possible care area residents.

Losing her brother to liver cancer a decade ago spurred her resolve to begin an aggressive fund-raising effort that resulted in the establishment of the John C. Fiadini Center for Out Patient Oncology opened at Bayonne Hospital. Subsequently, the hospital dedicated its new Madeline Fiadini Lo Re Women's Center in her honor. The, Center offers preventative screenings for a number of types of cancer.

The Foundation works closely with the medical community in Hudson County, specifically the Jersey City Medical Center, Bayonne Medical Center, Christ Hospital, and Hoboken University Medical Center. All individuals who can access these facilities are potentially eligible for Foundation support.
