Charlie the Boxer Needs a Loving Home

Newark Patch's Pet of the Week

Submitted by the Associated Humane Societies

This is Charlie, Newark Patch’s Pet of the Week. Charlie is a very sweet and people-focused 3 year-old Boxer mix. He was found roaming the streets of Newark in November and has not had the best life so far, with fly bites in his ears and a thin frame—but this great dog has not lost his love for people or his charm. Charlie will dance on his hind legs for attention, and even when he jumps up on you he barely touches you with his paws. He ignored all other dogs coming and going during his evaluation. Charlie likes toys, and played with them very nicely, yet he was willing to give them up when asked. He walks very nicely on a lead and stays at your side most of the time. Charlie took his treats very gently and didn’t mind being pet or handled while he ate them. He even allowed hands in his food bowl. Charlie has a calm but playful personality and would make a lovely family friend and companion. This great dog has been through a lot and deserves a new “leash” on life—help us find him a great forever home this New Year!

If you think Charlie might be the dog for your family, please contact Associated Humane Societies’ Newark shelter with his ID # (121542).  The shelter is located at 124 Evergreen Ave. in Newark, NJ  07114.
