Free Concerts this Month at Riverfront Park

Events will be held two consecutive weekends

The City of Newark and Newark Riverfront Revival, in partnership with Ironbound Community Corporation, Essex County, and Friends of Riverfront Park, is offering free Newark Riverfront Music at the Orange Sticks concerts in Newark Riverfront Park Sept. 20 and 27. All concerts will take place from 7 to 9 p.m.


The concerts will be held at Newark Riverfront Park in Newark’s East Ward, at the Passaic River along Raymond Boulevard between Van Buren and Somme Streets. The site is a 10-minute walk from Newark Penn Station, or accessible by NJ Transit No. 1 bus. Persons attending the concerts can bring their own blankets and lawn chairs.

The 12.33-acre park includes a soccer field and baseball field with synthetic grass surfaces, tennis and basketball courts, a passive meadow, walking paths, two playground areas, and a small parking area. This year, a second segment opened, extending west towards Penn Station to Van Buren Street. This second segment contains a walkway/bikeway, lawns for relaxing, a 1000-foot-long recycled lumber boardwalk and a 60-foot by 10-foot public floating dock, intended for use by youth boating and rowing programs among others.
