Newark Conservancy Hosting Gardening Seminar Next Month

Gift offered for those who register by Feb. 1

Community gardeners from Newark and beyond are invited to share information, food and gardening tips as they kick off the 2013 gardening season at Greater Newark Conservancy’s Beds & Breakfast Seminar, Saturday, Feb. 9. Presented at the Conservancy’s Outdoor Learning Center,  32 Prince St., the program will bring together everyone from beginners to gardening veterans involved in community gardening efforts ranging from backyard plots to larger urban farms. Pre-registration is required.
 
The $25 cost of the event includes breakfast, giveaways and a free half-flat of flowers for participants who register and pay by Feb. 1. The program will include presentations by guest speakers representing local community gardening organizations, plus expert panels, hands-on workshops and group discussions on topics including Community Garden Models, Organization Strategies, Funding Opportunities, Site Planning, Planting Information, Composting and Native versus Invasive Plants.
