Photos: Newark Digs Out

Residents get back to work -- and play -- as snowstorm leaves area

With a winter storm dumping 10 inches in the city (according to measurements at Newark Liberty International Airport) and temperatures plummeting into the single digits overnight, Newarkers had a lot to contend with first thing Wednesday morning.

But as the day wore on, the city coped. By noon, major thoroughfares like Bloomfield Avenue, Broad and Market streets, South Orange Avenue and Springfield Avenue were clear down to the blacktop, while side streets throughout the city were at least passable.

Pictured here are scenes from the storm's aftermath Wednesday.
