Free Event Sunday Honors Michael Jackson

'Birthday Tribute' will feature singers, dancers, Jackson imitators and more.

The city of Newark and other agencies Sunday are hosting a daylong event honoring the late King of Pop, Michael Jackson.

The Division of Recreation and Cultural Affairs, the Commons Community Development Corp., Rutgers-Newark and Washington Park Commons Conservancy are sponsoring the Fifth Annual Birthday Tribute to Michael Jackson. The event is part of the Sundays At Washington Park cultural program.

A lineup of singers, dancers, Jackson impersonators and an audience participation dance contest, “Moves Like Me,” is planned for the event, which will be held from noon to 6 at Washington Park, Broad and Washington streets. A song and dance competition for children under 13 is also planned.
