The Weekender: Generation Fit Opens at Newark Museum

Holiday Light Spectacular is free this year

WHEN: Friday, 3 p.m.WHY GO: Celebrate National Game & Puzzle Month with an afternoon of (you guessed it!) games and puzzles. For children up to 8th grade.

WHY GO: Come join the celebration as we open a new health & fitness exhibit.  Here are just a few exhibits:
• Join a healthy cooking demonstration and meet celebrity Chef Scott Cutaneo of "FOX & Friends" as he shares his recipes for healthy and delicious meals (1:30–2:15 pm)
• Zumba & Salsa Dance Classes & Yoga Workshops
• Professional Fitness Instructors Demonstrate Exercise Essentials
• Learn to Create a Vegetable Garden
• Food & Fitness Gallery Art Tours

WHY GO:
Experience Turtle Back Zoo in the winter as 100,000 bulbs and 40 lit displays illuminate the zoo this holiday season!
COST: Free. Turtle Back Zoo will be collecting non-perishable food, winter coats and unwrapped new toys for the needy each evening of holiday lights.

WHERE: Thomas Edison National Historical Park, West Orange
WHEN: Friday, Saturday, Sunday, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
WHAT: Glenmont will be decorated much as it was while the Edison family lived there. Favorite musical pieces will be playing and greenery and red poinsettias will deck the mantles above the fireplaces. Staircases will be ringed with boughs and red ribbon bows and wreaths will hang in every window. In the Den, the majestic 10-foot tree will be lit and the presents underneath.
COST: Admission is $7, and includes the Glenmont Estate and the Laboratory Complex. Children under age 16 are free.

WHY GO: One More Time - An art exhibition featuring the work of Tony Graves, artist-in-residence for the Africana Institute.

WHY GO: Join Ariane Duarte, executive chef and co-owner of CulinAriane in Montclair, NJ, for a healthy cooking demonstration. Duarte has been featured on Bravo's Top Chef Season 5 and appeared on the Today Show, Iron Chef and the Tyra Banks Show among others.

WHERE: Paper Mill Playhouse, Millburn, NJ

WHY GO: Based on the beloved Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye film, this merry musical tells the tale of two famous song-and-dance men who stage a show in a scenic, snow-topped Vermont inn — and end up finding love with two singing sisters under the mistletoe.
