Ash Wednesday Ashes Being Offered at Newark Train Stations

Episcopal Diocese of Newark again offering 'Ashes to Go' to am commuters

The Episcopal Diocese of Newark is offering “Ashes to Go” to commuters at train stations throughout North Jersey tomorrow, Ash Wednesday.

Priests and laypeople will be positioned at stations during the morning rush hour to dispense ashes, the ritual that marks the start of Lenten season leading up to Easter.   
 
The Rt. Rev. Mark M. Beckwith, Bishop of Newark, will offer ashes outside Newark Penn Station from approximately 7:30 to 8:30 am. The Rev. Canon Gregory A. Jacobs, Canon to the Ordinary, will offer ashes outside Broad Street Station in Newark from approximately 7 to 8 am.
