An Irvington man was killed in Newark Thursday night in what authorities said appeared to be a targeted shooting, according to a statement released by the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and Newark police.
Hanif Zeigler, 32, was found by city police shortly before midnight near Mulberry and Center streets, not far from the New Jersey Performing Arts Center, where the group Naughty by Nature performed an outdoor concert dedicated to the memory of Trayvon Martin.
Ziegler was pronounced dead at University Hospital just after midnight Friday.
