A memorial service was held Saturday for civil rights leader Gus Heningburg, who died in October at age 82.

Dignitaries including Amiri Baraka and former Mayor Sharpe James attended the service at Bethany Baptist Church to honor a man who played a prominent role in helping the city address the legacy of the 1967 riots. He alos co-hosted the popular show "Positively Black" for many years.
