The Library partners with Grupo Cultural Tradiciones del Perú to commemorate the independence of this ancient and complex South American country with a program that celebrates its history and vibrant ethnic diversity. The evening's festivities will feature a talk by local historian, Artemio Oporto, "Peruvian Pioneers in Other Lands," an exhibit of Fernando Mariscal's paintings, and a program of traditional music and dances of Peru directed by musician Pedro Caycho.
