Ring World: The Story of Cassini

On Wednesday, January 9th, the North Jersey Astronomical Group (NJAG) is offering a free film about Saturn at Montclair State University.

The January meeting of North Jersey Astronomical Group(NJAG) will feature a new 20 minute long NASA film "Ring World: The Story of Cassini." This film is an update on the Cassini spacecraft's spectacular mission to Saturn.

In 1997 NASA launched Cassini, one of the largest and most sophisticated planetary spacecraft ever constructed. This new NASA documentary covers this amazing adventure of discovery that involved more than 18 nations, stretching more than a billion miles into the outer solar system, to study, in unprecedented and vivid detail, one of the most revered celestial objects known, the mighty planet Saturn. From its distinctive rings and exotic moons, to its spectacular weather systems, Saturn is a world of both stunning beauty and confounding mystery. The Cassini mission has been our eyes and our ears in exploring this fascinating Ringworld.

Monthly meetings of the NJAG are free and open to the public - all are welcomed; light refreshments will be served. Meetings are held on the second Wednesday of the month (except August), unless noted. Meetings begin at 8:00 p.m. in Richardson Hall, Room 232 at Montclair State University.
