Deadline for Newark Police Scholarships is Next Week
Funds given to city students in memory of fallen officers
The Newark Police Department Memorial Scholarship Fund is now accepting applications from Newark students. The scholarships are awarded in the names of fallen city police officers.
Applicants will be judged on criteria including academic performance, community service, essays and personal references. The fund, which has awarded scholarships totaling more than $50,000 to date, is paid for with department-sponsored golf outings and other events.
Applications can be downloaded by visiting the department’s website, www.newarkpdonline.org. Completed applications must be mailed to: Newark Police Memorial Foundation, 274 Chestnut St., Suite 180, Newark, NJ 07105.
