Shelter Offering Free K-9 Protective Vest to Police

Donations also being sought for 'Vested Interest' program

A Newark-based animal shelter is offering a K-9 protective vest to any police department in need of one, the agency said in a statement.

Associated Humane Societies’ Vested Interest program is also seeking out departments in possession of vests whose warranty has expired.

“The vests are such an important piece of equipment for any working dog, and AHS wants police departments to know there is no need for a K-9 officer to go out to work each day without protective gear when a program such as Vested Interest exists and is a mere phone call away,” the agency said in a statement.
