Sheriff Delivers Turkeys and all the Trimmings During Annual Holiday Drive

Sheriff's office has been conducting drives for a quarter-century

Essex County Sheriff Armando Fontoura (4th from left in the attached photo) is joined by his officers, deputies and civilian staff at Veterans Courthouse for the final phase of the Essex County Sheriff's 25th Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive for Needy Families and the Homeless.

On Tuesday, Fontoura and the officers delivered scores of turkeys with all the traditional holiday fixings to economically disadvantaged local families for their Thanksgiving holiday meal.  Hundreds of other turkeys and hundreds of pounds of vegetables, potatoes, cranberries and deserts were also delivered to food pantries, houses of worship, senior citizen centers, schools and social service agencies in Newark and throughout the area to stock their shelves for the coming winter months.

During the past quarter century, Fontoura and his officers have provided Thanksgiving and winter meals to tens of thousands of needy and homeless persons.
