Happy Wearing of the Green and by the Way - Where is the Green?

Yes - it is closer to the end of March and I'm looking for the Crocus, or Daffodil something that gives me hope we will soon have greener pastures, butterflies, azaleas and all the wonders that summer in New Jersey offers.  Hot pavement, kids in the street with their bikes, food vendors with cold sodas and hot pretzels.   I also wonder why a small business owner can't send a simple gift to someone without fear of "bribery" "endorcement" or some other unsavory intent being brought into the equation.  It was St. Patrick's Day - a cheap loaf of Soda Bread was sent to so many wonderful businesses in NJ - Newark had its own great St. Patrick's Day - everyone loves St. Patrick's Day - there's no reason not to.
I received calls and emails with a quick thank you.  The same thing I would do on other holidays when I receive a tin of cookies or a box of chocolates - I do not demonize the sender by thinking they are forcing me to "endorse" their product.  I simply say, how nice of them to think of me on their holiday.
That wasn't the case with one of the businesses in Newark which leads me to believe that the atmosphere of fear mongering and finger pointing must be present at this particular facility.  (Or they have their very own DNA Lady and were intimidated by my marketing practices - who knows?)  I just feel sorry for a person, who because of today's politically correct atmosphere cannot accept a simple gift or act of kindness from someone.  Yes it was a reminder about my company and what we have to offer  (non-invasive DNA tests to confirm biological relationships - both court and non court admissible) but it was not a bribe (a $5 loaf of Irish Bread cannot bribe an Irishman out of a bar - let alone a nurse into selling my services!)
So next time you receive a small gift in the mail - just say thank you - nothing else is expected in any reasonable business.  Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.
