School Garden Project of Good Shepherd Academy - Nutley

Students of Good Shepherd Academy in Nutley have begun their school garden project.  Sustaining and preparing a garden gives them the opportunity for a wonderful learning experience where many academic subjects are integrated.

The 6th graders have worked on designing individual experimental questions to test how sunlight, air, soil, and various liquids affect the germination of various flower seeds.  They built a flower bed in the back of the school, close to the aftercare room entrance.

The 7th graders have also begun an organic garden research project where they each have to be responsible for the growth of a different organic herb/vegetable.  The vegetable garden is in the back of the convent and the students will be making assign for their specific plant.
