Bloomingdale Woman Nabbed with Oxycodone, Ecstacy

Sheriff's officers make arrest in Newark Friday afternoon

A Bloomingdale woman was arraigned Monday on a slew of drug charges following her arrest Friday in Newark, authorities said.

Essex County Sheriff's Officers Dennis Kihlberg and George Sona pulled over a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am Friday afternoon near West Market and Norfolk streets for a broken brake light and occupants who were not wearing seat belts.

Officers observed Chelsea Kasperowicz, 24, who was in the front passenger seat, allegedly hide a clear plastic bag containing what police described as "green vegetation" inside the collar of her shit.

Kasperowicz was ordered out of the vehicle and removed the bag from her shirt, which contained 5.5 grams of marijuana. Officers discovered during a subsequent search of Kasperowicz 65 Oxycodone tablets, 15.3 grams of Ecstasy and $347 in cash.

She was charged with three counts of possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) and three condos of possession of CDS with intent to distribute.

At her arraignment Monday, Kasperowicz was ordered held at the county jail by Judge Roslyn Holmes-Grant in lieu of $55,000 cash bond only.

The driver of the Pontiac and another passenger, who were not identified, were issued motor vehicle summonses.
