Federal Watchdog to Monitor Newark Police…

Booker Rescues Freezing Dog

Reporter spots freezing dog, calls mayor into action

A television reporter’s tweet Thursday spurred Mayor Cory Booker to come to the aid of a dog caught outside in the bitterly cold night.

Toni Yates of Channel 7’s Eyewitness News was in the city when she and her crew spotted the suffering animal.

She tweeted a message to Booker, who came to the scene and placed the dog into a police car, then called its owner to urge him not to leave their pet outside in such brutal weather. The owner later told Channel 7 he was away from home at the time and was unaware the dog had been left out of doors.

Good for the dog. I wrote a letter and hand delivered to the mayor about a tree the city planted in front of my property that has created a hazardous condition. I can't repair the problem until the city does something about the tree. I have been trying to get help for a year and a half. Should I start barking.

Typo corrections: The reporter just couldn't bring herself to personally help this poor dog by knocking on the door and having the occupants bring the dog inside. So she tweeted publicity hound Booker who then tied up as police car. Wonder why he didn't put the dog in his Super SUV?

Kudos to Newark's Mayor Corey Booker, this is a man who leads by example. As a former Newark resident, I understand some of the hardships you face as Mayor of a city that's been stripped away it's pride by a handful of troublemakers within as well as outside the city limits. Many don't see the correlation between the two, the buyers provide the sellers with income and it brings danger to the LEO's as well as the law abiding residents. I've heard many complain (on SL) in an attempt to deflect your good deeds, I understand how people can bring toxicity to your good efforts. Unfortunately peoples comments only provide dis-and-misinformation to other readers, and I've seen how the spins sends readers who go as far as to read only the title go way off topic. Back on topic, keep up the good work and know you're appreciated. In a perfect world there would be a quick anecdote to repair all the damage from the all the Micro-Management done before your term. Many of my friends and Coworkers patrol that area, and I'm trusting you Mayor Booker (and them) to provide a better, safer environment for the residents there and our FURever friends. Best to you Mayor Booker, A former volunteer and PT resident of the City of Newark NJ.
