Booker Rescues Freezing Dog

Reporter spots freezing dog, calls mayor into action

A television reporter’s tweet Thursday spurred Mayor Cory Booker to come to the aid of a dog caught outside in the bitterly cold night.

Toni Yates of Channel 7’s Eyewitness News was in the city when she and her crew spotted the suffering animal.

She tweeted a message to Booker, who came to the scene and placed the dog into a police car, then called its owner to urge him not to leave their pet outside in such brutal weather. The owner later told Channel 7 he was away from home at the time and was unaware the dog had been left out of doors.
