Noel was found with gun in 2011

A Newark man with prior felony convictions was sentenced Tuesday to 66 months in prison for unlawfully possessing a semiautomatic pistol, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced.

Clarence Noel, 50, was found with a .45-caliber Smith & Wesson Chief’s Special in Newark on Sept. 24, 2011. Noel was barred from owning the weapon due to his prior felony convictions.

In addition to the prison term, Judge Walls sentenced Noel to three years of supervised release.
