The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office is investigating the shooting death of a 29-year-old city man early Sunday.
Newark police responded to a report of a shooting at South Orange Avenue and S. 10th Street around 4:40 am, the prosecutor’s office said. Police found Suton Jones, who had suffered a gunshot wound, and rushed him to University Hospital. He was pronounced dead at 5:12 am.
The matter is being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor's Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department. Anyone with information is asked to contact Task Force detectives at (877) 847-7432 or (973) 621-4586.
