City Man Killed on Way Home from Work

Newark-Liberty employee apparent robbery victim

A 26-year-old Newark man found near Lincoln Park with a gunshot wound Tuesday night later died from his injuries, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said Wednesday.

A passerby spotted Bruce Santos near Broad and Camp streets around 10 pm and flagged down a police cruiser. He was pronounced dead at University Hospital a half-hour later.

The preliminary investigation indicates the victim was coming home from working at Newark Liberty International Airport. It appears he may have been a victim of an apparent robbery attempt.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force tips line at 1-877-847-7432.

How sad that you work perhaps at a below poverty paying job to support yourself and or your family and get shot because some lazy person rather rob people then find a job themselves there is no regard for life anymore people seek comfort in the Lord have some soul searching in your hearts stop the madness.

And Mayor Cory Booker keeps deluding the public that the streets of Newark are safe.

Come on put the cops on the streets, get them off their cars. Also, have them on plain clothes. What are you waiting for Mr Mayor? Must change techniques on how to be successful on the streets. Are you fighting crime or you just yet another politician?

Yes, get them off their cruisers and have them do real police work. Walk the Newark Streets, stop all that luxury of driving around for nothing, off their car you go to stop crime and be visible and invisible while you are on plain clothe. Do something that makes sense I know you can drive; now I want to see you on the streets doing the job that you guys are suppose to do. STOP CRIME DO SOMETHING
