Police and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating the fatal shooting of 21-year-old Stefan McCowen, the prosecutor’s office said in a statement Thursday.
The victim, a Newark resident, was discovered after police responded to a call of shots fired around 9:40 pm Wednesday night, the prosecutor’s office said. McCowen was in the rear of an apartment complex along the 500 block of S.18th Street.
