City Man Suspected of January Shooting Arrested in Pennsylvania

Taylor described by police as one of city's "most wanted."

FBI agents and police from Bethlehem and Freemansburg, Pa., joined with Newark police to capture a city man suspected of shooting another man early this year.

Derrick Taylor, 30, of Newark, was arrested at a home in Freemansburg around 7 am. He was captured without incident, Newark police said.

Taylor was wanted in connection with the shooting of an Orange man Jan. 20. The 43-year-old victim, who was shot near 580 Hawthorne Ave., survived.

“I applaud the dedicated efforts of all the officers and agencies involved in apprehending one of Newark’s most wanted dangerous and elusive criminals.  Working closely with our law enforcement partners continues to be a valuable tool in apprehending these harden criminals,” said Newark Police Director Samuel DeMaio.
