Law enforcement officials said Tuesday an arrest warrant has been issued for Kajuan Murray, a 21-year-old Newark man wanted for a murder earlier this month.
Newark police and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said Murray shot and killed city resident Tony Johnson, 27. Johnson was shot around 4 pm on Dec. 3 while standing with a group of people near Clinton Avenue and Stratford Place.
Johnson was pronounced dead a half-hour later at University Hospital.
In addition to murder, Murray is also charged with two weapons offenses.
Bail was set at $1 million by the Honorable Carolyn E. Wright, J.S.C.
Anyone with information should contact the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office tips line at 1-877-847-7432 or dial 911.
Murray is considered armed and dangerous.
