City Man Wanted for Murder

Police: Murray is suspect in Dec. 3 slaying on Clinton Avenue

Law enforcement officials said Tuesday an arrest warrant has been issued for Kajuan Murray, a 21-year-old Newark man wanted for a murder earlier this month.

Newark police and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said Murray shot and killed city resident Tony Johnson, 27. Johnson was shot around 4 pm on Dec. 3 while standing with a group of people near Clinton Avenue and Stratford Place.
Johnson was pronounced dead a half-hour later at University Hospital.

In addition to murder, Murray is also charged with two weapons offenses.
Bail was set at $1 million by the Honorable Carolyn E. Wright, J.S.C.
