Man Killed in Apparent Targeted Shooting Thursday
Authorities seeking information from the public
A 20-year-old city man was killed Dec. 27 in what is being described as a targeted shooting, Newark police and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office announced.
Ahmad Jackson, 20, was near the corner of Ashland Street and South Orange Avenue around 4 pm when he was shot by an unknown assailant. He was pronounced dead at University Hospital about a half-hour later.
The matter is being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor's Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department. Anyone with information is asked to contact task force detectives at (877) 847-7432 or (973) 621-4586.
