Man Killed in Possible Targeted Shooting
Daytime shooting occurred on S. 19 Street Wednesday.
The Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and Newark police are investigating the fatal shooting of a 23-year-old city man Wednesday, the prosecutor’s office said in a statement.
Willie F. Cleveland was shot multiple times while on the 500 block of S. 19th Street around 2:15 p.m. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators believe Cleveland was deliberately targeted, prosecutor’s office spokeswoman Katherine Carter said.
