Newark Brothers Wanted for Killing Store Clerk, Prosecutor Says

Arrest warrants have been issued for two Newark men in connection with the killing of an Irvington store clerk on Saturday, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office announced Wednesday.

Narendrak Patel, 52, was shot during a robbery attempt at his convenience store at 130 Myrtle Ave. Two people are already in custody in connection with the slaying, Carnel Colbett, 22, and a 17-year-old, both from Newark.

Colbett is being held on $750,000 bail.

Two other men, Ivery Brinson, 26, and his brother Shakil, 21, both of Newark, are also wanted but remained at large Wednesday. The brothers have been charged with murder, felony murder, robbery, carjacking and weapons offenses, the prosecutor’s office said.
