Gordon charged with aggravated assault Tuesday

Members of the Newark Police Department’s Fugitive Apprehension Team Tuesday arrested a city man wanted for a non-fatal shooting July 31, the department said in a statement.

Jazir Gordon, 18, was arrested near Bergen Street and 18th Avenue following an investigation. Gordon was wanted in connection with the shooting of a 42-year-old man near 388 Mahogany Court. He was charged Tuesday with aggravated assault and weapons offenses.

"The apprehensions by the Fugitive Apprehension Unit continue to improve the quality of life in the city by bringing to justice the criminal element,” said Police Director Samuel DeMaio.
