Newark Man Admits to Little Falls Carjacking

Darby faces up to life in prison, half-million in fines.

A 24-year-old city man Wednesday pleaded guilty in federal court to taking part in an armed carjacking in Little Falls in 2011, US Attorney Paul Fishman said.

Hanzah Darby admitted he and another Newark man, 25-year-old Ivan Lee,  walked up to a parked, occupied BMW on Oct. 30, 2011 and ordered the occupants out after Lee allegedly pulled a shotgun. Charges against Lee are pending, Fishman said.

Police spotted the car in Newark about a week later as Darby stood beside it, Fishman also said.
