Newark Man Arrested in Pittsburgh on Drug Distribution Charge

Heroin worth tens of thousands of dollars recovered, police say

A 33-year-old city man was arrested Tuesday night in Pennsylvania after police there said he was found carrying heroin with a street value of $20,000.

Pittsburgh police conducting surveillance observed Rasheed McKenith leave the Amtrak train station around 7:45 pm and enter the adjacent Greyhound bus station. Officers began to follow McKenith when he was observed acting suspiciously, Pittsburgh police said in a statement.

McKenith was followed to a bathroom at the station, where he was seen dropping a book bag containing 2,000 bags of heroin.

He was arrested and will be charged with possession of heroin and intent to distribute. McKenith was being held at the Allegheny County Jail.
