Newark Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Killing of WWII Vet

Shaun Woodson, 28, had pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter for the killing of Robert Nevius, 91, in his Essex Fells home.

A Newark man who pleaded guilty to the aggravated manslaughter of a 91-year-old World War II vet was sentenced Tuesday to 10 years in prison.

Shaun Woodson, 28, pleaded guilty as part of a plea deal with the Essex County prosecutors, according to a report on NJ.com, and must serve 85 percent of his 10-year prison term and serve 5 years parole after his release.

Authorities said Woodson conspired with Reginald Anthony to kill decorated World War II veteran Robert Nevius at his Essex Fells home in 2010.

A jury found Anthony guilty of second-degree conspiracy to commit burglary in 2012 but acquitted him on murder charges due to a lack of evidence.
