Newark Pair Charged in Connection With Rash of North Jersey Burglaries

Police still searching for residents who may have missing jewelry from burglaries in multiple northern New Jersey towns.

Three people have been charged in a slew of burglaries and thefts from northern New Jersey after Parsippany police were contacted by one of the suspects, authorities said.

While responding to a disturbance in the afternoon of May 20 at the intersection of Rt. 46 and Cherry Hill Road, Parsippany officers were contacted by Ynekia Blanch, 34, of Brick, Officer Earl Kinsey said.

Blanch was yelling from across the street to get the officers’ attention, then ran across Rt. 46 and approached Sgt. Allan Griffin, Kinsey said. She told police she had been involved in a dispute and was concerned for her safety, Kinsey said.

Blanch then told police she had been traveling with a white man and black woman in a GMC Yukon, which suffered a flat tire, Kinsey said. Blanch was taken to police headquarters when officers found an active warrant for her arrest. While there, Blanch was interviewed as other officers searched the area for the two individuals named by Blanch, Kinsey said.

The investigation revealed Blanch and the two others had been involved in a burglary and an attempted burglary in Parsippany earlier that day, Kinsey said. Police could see inside the car and found a safe and piece of luggage. The vehicle was impounded and taken into evidence.
