Two men, including one wanted for murder, were arrested Wednesday morning by the Newark Police Department’s fugitive apprehension unit, police said.
At 11:15 am, police and members of the US Marshals Service arrested 20-year-old Alsupreme Davis following an investigation of a shooting that occurred Jan. 16. In that incident, someone fired a shotgun at a 17-year-old near 27 Parkhurst St. Alsuperme was found Wednesday at that address and charged with making terroristic threats and weapons charges.
Ninety minutes later the fugitive unit arrested Jameel Jackson at 55 Oxford St. Jackson is accused of murdering a 26-year-old city man Jan. 15 on Hawkins St.
“I am delighted by the continued success that the Fugitive Apprehension Unit while working in conjunction with other agencies has demonstrated in arresting violent criminals that plague our city with inconceivable violence. The apprehensions by this unit ultimately improve the quality of life for all in Newark,” said Newark Police Director Samuel DeMaio.
