Newark Police Arrest Two Wanted for September Shooting

Two men wounded during incident on North Munn Avenue

Members of the Newark Police Department’s Fugitive Apprehension Team arrested two men who were wanted in connection with a double-shooting in September.


Freddie K. Simmons, 19, of East Orange was picked up in Jersey City. On Thursday, police arrested Robert Baines, 20, in Newark.


The two were wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred on North Munn Avenue Sept. 19. The two victims, who both survived, told police they were inside a home when someone knocked on the door and then began firing.

Simmons and Baines have both been charged with aggravated assault, conspiracy and weapons offenses.
