One Dead, One Injured After Friday Night Shooting

Terrell Dixon, 29, of Irvington was shot and killed on Renner Avenue on Friday.

Police are still investigating the circumstances of a Newark shooting that left one man dead and another injured on Friday.

Two men were shot shortly before 8:30 p.m. at the 200 block of Renner Avenue in Newark, said Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray.

Terrell Dixon, 29, of Irvington was pronounced dead a short time later at University Hospital. The second victim, who's name is not being released is in stable condition, said Murray.

“The matter is being investigated by the Essex County Prosecutor's Major Crimes Task Force, which includes detectives from the Newark Police Department,” Murray said in a written statement. “The investigation is ongoing at this time according to Chief Assistant Prosecutor Thomas S. Fennelly, of the Prosecutor's Homicide Unit.”
