Quite a 'Night Out,' Courtesy of Newark Police
Department participates in 30th annual community outreach program.
Police officers, community leaders and other Newarkers gathered at locations through the city Tuesday for the 30th annual National Night Out celebration, an evening of public safety, family fun and socializing between residents and police. Hundreds of communities also took part in the event, begun in 1984 as a way to encourage a closer relationship between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
