Report: Newark Native Kozlowski Denied Early Parole
Former Tyco CEO stole tens of millions from company.
Newark native and disgraced CEO Dennis Kozlowski failed in his bid to shorten his time in prison, The New York Daily News reported yesterday.
Kozlowski, 66, a Seton Hall University graduate whose mother worked as a crossing guard for the Newark Public Schools, is serving 8-and-a-third to 25 years in prison for stealing $150 million from Tyco, his former company.
He has paid more than $200 million in fines and restitution.

Kozlowski, who is now living in a halfway house in Manhattan, was hoping for a parole hearing to be scheduled on a fast-track basis. Kozlowski has been a model prisoner, The Daily News reported.
An appeals court Tuesday struck down a judge’s ruling overturning the parole board’s rejection of Kozlowski’s request for the earlier hearing.

Kozlowski’s attorney plans to appeal the decision.
Even if that appeal is unsuccessful, however, Kozlowski is still eligible for parole in January 2014, The Daily News also reported.
