Teen Killed in Court Street Shooting

Newark resident Raheem Neal died and another teen was wounded Saturday evening, authorities said.

Newark police and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office are investigating the Saturday evening shooting death of a 15-year-old Newark youth and a 17-year-old Newark youth in what officials believe may have been a targeted shooting.

Raheem Neal, 15, was pronounced dead at 9:30 p.m. The 17-year-old youth, whom authorities did not identify, was in stable condition, according to a news release from acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Newark Police Director Samuel DeMaio.

The teens were shot in the 200 block of Court Street around 6:45 p.m. and transported to University Hospital, authorities said Sunday.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Major Crimes Task Force is investigating.

Police are asking anyone with information to call detectives at (877) 847-7432 or (973) 621-4586.

JUST SAD AND NO ONE CAN BLAME THE MAYOR FOR THIS
Iamgoininbitches Neal January 30, 2013 at 08:45 PM
Yea. I guess you cant blame the mayor for anything cause hes not doing anything. We elected him for change he hasnt changed anything. My 15 year old cousin wasnt a gang member he was agreat ypung man who was really respected.. Went to school everyday and didnt have any issues with no one. So now what will the mayor do. Get on t.v and talk about what is going once again. Newark isnt safe because we dont have stronge men and women protecting the streets as they would do somwhere else.
