Two Dead, One Wounded in Shootings

Violence claims lives of Newark man, woman

Two people were killed and a third person wounded in separate shootings Monday night and Tuesday morning, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office and Newark police said.

Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray said Kiamesha Minton, 20, was shot and killed around 11 pm Monday night on Dewey Street. Another woman was shot but survived.

Minton’s grandmother told NJ.com she was intervening in a fight between a friend and a man when she was shot.

A few hours later, at around 1:20 am, 19-year-old Aljabree Adams of Newark was shot on West Runyon Street. He was pronounced dead at University Hospital around 2 am, the prosecutor’s office said.
